Fall is the time of year when homeowners look to make their home cozier as holiday entertaining approaches. They can find ideas for everything from kitchen renovations to decorating to energy-saving solutions at the Fresno Fall Home Improvement Show this weekend at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
More than 350 vendors specializing in remodeling and decorating, pools, patio furniture, flooring and window coverings will be on hand.A new feature this year is the "Cooking & Baking for the Holidays" venue, featuring such area chefs as Karsten Hart of Erna's Elderberry House, Scott Sauer of Max's Bistro, Ray Lewis of Slates, Enrique Solorio of Belana, pastry chef John Moore of Harris Ranch, Tony Lancaster of Karsh's Catering and Thomas Mendoza of the Institute of Technology Culinary School.Bay Area author and contractor Steven Katkowsky will discuss how to choose a contractor for kitchen and bath remodels and tips for a successful remodeling project. His seminars will be at 1:40 and 4 p.m. Friday, noon and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.The home show also will feature "green" businesses offering environmentally conscious products and services such as ecologically friendly landscaping, recycled lumber and natural cleaning products.Show hours are noon-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
