Ice, ice baby: NBC Sports’ figure skating analysts Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski will join NBC’s Super Bowl XLIX pre-game show.
“Johnny and Tara” burst onto the sports-broadcasting scene during the Sochi Olympics in February 2014. Since that debut, the duo has reported on style, luminaries and parties at some of televisions biggest events, including NBC’s coverage of the 2014 Kentucky Derby and the 2014 Academy Awards.
They will be based at the Super Bowl XLIX Tailgate Party, the official NFL pre-game party for VIP guests. They will interview celebrities who annually attend the NFL’s championship game and will also provide their own Super Bowl observations.
In step: choreographer, performer, singer and songwriter Paula Abdul and singer/songwriter/dancer Jason Derulo will join Nigel Lythgoe at the judges’ table, alongside returning host Cat Deeley, for the season 12 of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
The upcoming season will feature a new twist in the competition: stage dancers vs. street dancers.
Lythgoe says, “Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason’s insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven’t had before.”
