Scary thought: As twilight descends upon The Greek Theatre, Spike TV presents "Scream 2009," an evening to celebrate all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic book.

"Scream 2009" will tape Oct. 17 and will air 10 p.m. Oct. 27 on Spike TV.

It's all "Greek" to me: ABC Family and Harlequin Enterprises Limited will publish four Harlequin titles for the ABC Family series "Greek," the network's dramedy about the lives and loves of college students at the fictional Cyprus-Rhodes University.

All four Harlequin books will be extensions of the series. The debut title, "Double Date," by Marsha Warner, will publish in May.

Another year: Showtime is picking up a fourth season of the David Duchovny series "Californication." Twelve new episodes of the comedy series will premiere in 2010.

Nudge nudge: "Monty Python's Flying Circus," the original sketch comedy show that redefined the face of comedy 40 years ago, will join the Independent Film Channel's "Python-a-thon" week and continue airing through 2010. The network acquired all four seasons of the series.

During "Python-a-thon," IFC will air one episode of its original six-part docu-series "Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut)" at 9 p.m. beginning Oct. 18, followed by a feature Python film such as "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Monty Python's Life of Brian" or "Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl" at 10 p.m. and an episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" at 11:30 p.m.
