New on DVD: Thumbs up for ‘Up'
* “Up” Grade A: A grumpy old man and a young boy sail away to an animated adventure. The computer-generated film features the voice of Ed Asner.
This offering is a long way from the light entertainment of a “Toy Story” or “Monsters, Inc.” It features the same first-rate animation, but the movie often has a very emotional side that goes a long way toward making this effort remarkably touching.
* “The Ugly Truth” Grade C: Gerard Butler says he’ll coach Katherine Heigl on how to land a man.

Saints will be America's team Sunday

Idaho ski resort owned by Bruce Willis reopens
An Idaho ski resort owned by Bruce Willis has reopened, almost a year after the resort's lodge was destroyed by fire.
Soldier Mountain Ski Resort celebrated opening day Thursday. Workers scrambled over the last four weeks to complete the lodge, in some cases using tables and kitchen equipment from The Mint, a former restaurant and bar in nearby Hailey that is also owned by Willis.
The opening comes late in the ski season, but features a new lodge to replace the original structure that was destroyed in the March 30 fire. Investigators determined the blaze was accidental.
