A-list comedian Dane Cook and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure are among our Things to Do this week.

A film with a purpose

Tonight's screening of "Children of Heaven" is an inspirational story of family and love and was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Foreign Language Film. This Farsi film, with English subtitles, follows a brother and sister as they try to stay out of trouble for losing a pair of shoes. It's a funny and heartwarming film.
CineCulture is a film service provided by Fresno State and is open to the public at no charge. The group promotes cultural awareness through film and post-screening discussions.
He'll insult ya!

Before there was Jeffrey Ross or Lisa Lampanelli, there was one comic who had the gift to insult you and make you laugh at the same time. That man is comedy legend Don Rickles, the veteran insult comic.
At 82, Rickles still knows how to ruffle feathers. And he'll put that to practice Monday night at Table Mountain Casino.
Race for pink

A crowd of more than 7,000 runners and walkers is expected at the 11th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday at Fresno State. The race is held to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The event will include a men's and women's 5K runs, a co-ed 5K walk, 2.2- or 1-mile walk and a Kids for the Cure Race.
There will also be a survivor ceremony, honoring those who have battled the disease.
Talib Kweli + Fashawn

Saturday night is the CD release party for Fresno rapper Fashawn, whose "Boy Meets World" was released nationally this week on One Records.
Fashawn is taking a night off from his tour with Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan to rock Tower Theatre with underground rap heroes Talib Kweli and Jean Grae.
Kweli is best known for his work with Mos Def as Blackstar, plus his group Reflection Eternal and a solo career of socially conscious raps.
Hear Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin

Garrick Ohlsson has long been regarded as one of the world's leading exponents of the music of Chopin. He'll perform works by Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin in tonight's performance of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts series

Selections from Mozart, Brahms and Dvorak are scheduled for this weekend's outing from the Fresno Philharmonic. The concert features guest pianist Meng-Chieh Liu, a soloist and chamber musician who serves on the piano faculty of the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. Performances: 8 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Melt Banana

Tokyo's Melt Banana returns to Visalia on Thursday, promising a night of noisy and fast rock 'n' roll.
As one of Japan's most famous rock bands, Melt Banana has made a considerable name for itself in the states -- having toured with Tool and Lou Reed.
Melt Banana's current U.S. tour is starting in Visalia and running through December. Hot Visalia punk band The Suicides is opening.
Tori Sparks

Tori Sparks is one of those singers whose show you can walk into blindly and walk out of totally being a fan.
Her enchanting vocals are equal parts soul, blues and folk -- an intersection that leads to comparisons to both Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell.
The Nashville-based singer makes a tour stop at Fresno's Full Circle Brewing Co. on Thursday.
