"The President's Own" Marine Corps Band is in Fresno today and Wednesday for a series of events.

The band is performing tonight at Saroyan Theatre. Tickets are sold out for that show, but you can still catch band members participating in a series of instructional clinics around town.

At 12:30 p.m. today, Jeffrey Strong -- a Buchanan High alum who plays in the Marine Corps band -- will lead a trumpet and brass clinic in the California State University, Fresno, Concert Hall. It's free to the public.

Three different clinics will run concurrently 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Various players from the Marine Corps band will perform and answer questions.

There's a brass clinic in the Fresno City College theater, a percussion clinic in the Fresno City College band room, and a woodwind clinic at Fresno Pacific University's Ashley Auditorium.

All are free and open to the public. No need to bring an instrument.
