Vampire Weekend, Paisley head to Valley

Cage the Elephant and George Winston also pin down dates.

Über-catchy indie rock band Vampire Weekend is due in Visalia on Nov. 9, the latest concert coup for promoter Aaron Gomes.

Gomes’ Sound N Vision Foundation has brought acts such as Billy Corgan, Modest Mouse and M. Ward to Visalia.

Vampire Weekend had a breakout year in 2008 with its self-titled debut album. The band performed on “Saturday Night Live” and played shows and festivals around the globe.

The show will be at The Cellar Door, 101 W. Main St. Tickets cost $20. and go on sale at noon on Friday at ticketweb.com. Gomes expects the buzz for Vampire Weekend to be big.

“This’ll sell out in less than five minutes,” he says.

Brad’s back

A new list of tour dates released Wednesday by Brad Paisley includes a Feb. 19 show at Save Mart Center. Openers for the tour are Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore. No details were announced about ticket prices or ticket sales. Expect more details soon.

Dragons & Elephants

The first part of November is filling up with buzzworthy club acts.

In addition to the Vampire Weekend date in Visalia, shows with Little Dragon and Cage the Elephant have been recently announced.

Swedish electronica/pop act Little Dragon will be at Audie’s Olympic on Nov. 5. The group played to a nearly packed house at Audie’s in May.

Tickets cost $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Details: lovethecaptive.com.

Audie’s Olympic has also secured a Nov. 8 date with rock band Cage the Elephant, which broke out this year with their hit single, “Ain't No Rest For the Wicked.”

Advance tickets go on sale today, costing $10. Tickets will cost $15 at the door.

Jay-Z’s opening acts

Opening acts for Jay-Z’s Nov. 7 date at Save Mart Center have been announced.

Funk/rock band N.E.R.D., which includes famous producer Pharrell Williams, is the biggest name. Up-and-coming rappers Wale and J. Cole are also on the bill. Here come Flobots

Flobots, the alternative rock/rap band that had the 2008 hit “Handlebars,” will play Starline on Nov. 16. Tickets cost $18 and are available at Valentino’s, as well as online at timgardeapresents.com.

Creation Festival

Jars of Clay, Thousand Foot Krutch and Audio Adrenaline are among the contemporary Christian acts on the Creation Festival, which makes a Nov. 3 Fresno tour stop. The concert is at Northside Community Church. Tickets cost $20-$40. Details: extremefaithproductions.com.

Winston’s back

Tickets are on sale now to see new age pianist George Winston, who plays the Tower Theatre on Jan. 9.

Winston last placed the Tower in Oct. 2007. This time tickets cost $22.50-$32.50.
