Because the name of the concerto was changed by publishers over the years (it has been listed under other names with piano accompaniment), it took almost a year to find the music and get the piece performance-ready. This may be the first time it has been performed locally with a string orchestra.
The program will also feature Jacques Ibert’s “Histoires for Saxophone and Piano;” String Quintet, Op. 87 by Felix Mendelssohn and “Four on the Floor,” by Libby Larsen for violin, cello, string bass and piano. A reception will follow the concert.
