The award-winning Buchanan Area Orchestra, which includes students from Alta Sierra Intermediate and Buchanan High schools, is having its first concert of the year on Thursday.
In addition to the student musicians, the concert also includes classical guests Susan Doering (violin) and Dieter Wulfhorst (cello). Doering and Wulfhorst, who often play together as Emerald Duo, are both teachers at Fresno Pacific University.
The Buchanan Area Orchestra is directed by Heidi Franklin.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall, 2770 E. International Ave. Tickets cost $5, or $2 for students.
