Downtown Fresno’s Summer Sweat Block Party had a tenuous (if not totally fun) start.
The first in the series of summer concerts got delayed by a freak July thunderstorm. The main stage was rained out and the headlining acts went on (at an indoor venue) several hours late.
Summer Sweat is a celebration of downtown and the Fresno heat.
Luckily, there’s a round two.
Never miss a local story.
Summer Sweat Vol. 2 kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 15 at Tioga Sequoia’s Beer Garden and the south entrance of the Fulton Mall.
Once again, more than two dozen bands (from across genres) will perform at the free, all-ages event. Los Angles art-rock band Little Red Lung headlines the night, along with violinist Gingger Shankar (who guested on Katy Perry’s current album “Prism”). Rapper Aesop (of Living Legends fame) leads the lineup of local acts, which includes We Killed the King, Cloudship, Sci-Fi-Caper, St. X and others.
27 bands, musicians and DJs are slated for downtown Fresno’s Summer Sweat Vol. 2.
The full lineup of bands can be seen at www.summersweat.party
There will also be a full lineup for food trucks (including Taco Truck Throwdown winner El Premio Mayor), plus a bike polo demonstration and craft/vintage goods, courtesy of Awakened Rose, Culture Cloths, Thrift Demon and more.
The remaining Summer Sweat parties are scheduled for Saturdays, Sept. 19 and Oct. 17.
