Leroy Macqueen and Kat Friend play high-energy garage-punk that borrows from GG Allin and Iggy Pop as easily as Roy Orbison and Olivia Newton-John.
The Australian two-piece (Macqueen sings and plays guitar; Friend drums) are in the U.S. on an extended tour that includes a string of shows for SXSW. It also includes two area dates.
You can see them at a free, all ages show 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Peeve’s Public House, or Friday, March 27, at Visalia’s Cellar Door, opening for guitarist Yonatan Gat.
The band just released a 7-inch record through the Detroit label Urinal Cake Records.
