Seattle singer and guitarist Jenn Ghetto was one of several songwriters in the legendary indie-rock band Carissa’s Wierd. That band broke up in 2003, but its members went on to form other highly visible musical projects, such as Father John Misty and Band of Horses.
As for Ghetto, she has recorded three solo records under the moniker S, including her latest, “Cool Choices,” which was produced by Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla and released in September.
S plays bittersweet indie-rock that sounds like a softer, poppier version of Kim Deal’s band The Breeders. The group is on tour in support of “Cool Choices” and getting some buzz — at least from the social media news site Buzzfeed, which recently named S one of five indie bands you should know.
