In-store performances are a vital part of any brick-and-mortar record shop.
When Tower District Records moved to its new location at the southeast corner of Olive and Palm avenues, it gave owner Bob Lambert the space for his inventory of used records (close to 20,000). It also allowed space to sell refurbished audio equipment and to build a small stage, which allows him to host “Live from the Kirby,” a monthly in-store concert series.
The building used to house the Kirby vacuum dealer, hence the name.
Never miss a local story.
The Sunday afternoon concerts are free and open to all ages. This weekend’s performance is from “grrrl gang band” Fatty Cakes and the Puff Pastries.
