For movie buffs, one of the Fresno area's best-kept secrets is the Cineculture Club at California State University, Fresno. Today's opening film is "Kung Fu Hustle," a comical action-crime film about gangs set in 1940s China, followed by a discussion with theater professor Ed EmanuEl.
Films are free, open to the public and are followed by discussions with selected guests. Screenings are at 5:30 p.m. in McLane Hall, Room 121, unless otherwise noted. Here's the fall schedule:
Friday: "Kung Fu Hustle."
Sept. 14: "The Rescue" and "Together We Are Free," 2-4 p.m., Lab School 134.
Sept. 18: "Viva La Causa."
Sept. 25: "Time & Tide."
Oct. 2: "The American Southwest: Are We Running Dry?"
Oct. 16: "The Canary Effect."
Oct. 23: "World Without Men."
Oct 30: "A Un Poquito De Tanta Verdad."
Nov. 6: "The Battle of Algiers."
Dec. 4: "Iran: Hot Tea, Cool Conversations."
