Directors: Will Gluck
Starring: Quvenzhané Wallis, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx.
The pitch: An optimistic foster child holds out hope she will find her real parents. Until that day, she is taken in my a billionaire who uses her as a political ploy.
The formula: The sun will come out on scenes from the Broadway show “Annie.” It’s a hard knock touch of “The Wiz.” Moments will from “Beasts of the Southern Wild” be together forever with this musical.
Go see it: If you are eternally optimistic that any adaptation of “Annie” will work.
Don’t go see it: If your Annie must have a singing voice that can knock down walls.
Sadly: This “Annie” may set back movie musicals 50 years.
