If you haven’t purchased your ticket to see “Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” on the opening weekend, time is running out.
At this moment tickets are available for the early showings on Dec. 17 but they are beginning to sell out.
All of the tickets for seven screening times for Edwards Fresno Stadium 22 & IMAX are gone. The first two IMAX screenings are sellouts and your earliest option for the large format now is a 1:55 a.m. screening.
Interest is huge everywhere. The online ticket site, Fandango, reports that tickets for “The Force Awakens,” are selling eight times faster than the previous first-day pre-sales record holder. That record was set in 2012 when tickets for the first “Hunger Games” movies went on sale.
This is a statement released by Fandago after the tickets went on sale:
“This is an extraordinary time for the industry, which experienced unprecedented ticketing demand last night for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” In fact, Fandango traffic surged to 7 times its typical peak levels, propelling Fandango’s advance sales for “Star Wars” to a record-setting first day of pre-sales.
“Movie theaters are continually adding new show times on Fandango to meet the phenomenal demand. The enthusiasm for this year’s most anticipated movie is out of this world and we expect it to continue all the way to its debut on Dec. 18.”
