Kacey Akin of Clovis was a big winner on the Tuesday, March 24 edition of the syndicated game show, “Wheel of Fortune.” It airs weekdays at 7:30 p.m. on ABC30.
The Clovis North Educational Center teacher, coach and Fresno State graduate won $19,600 in cash and prizes including a trip to Morocco. Her plan is to use the winnings to help pay for her education and to take a second honeymoon.
The huge “Wheel” fan says she has been watching with her family her entire life, and now watches with her husband. She first tried out for a spot on the show when the Wheelmobile stopped in Fresno in June.
“My name was not called,” Akin says. “But, I was one of the random people who got called in November and I went to Modesto to try out again. I made it to the final round.”
Never miss a local story.
She got a letter from the producers telling her she would be on call to come to Los Angeles for taping at any time — which turned out to be Jan. 30.
This is “Leave Winter Behind” week on the show.
“It was an incredible experience,” Akin adds.
