The Fresno Soul Fest 2016 will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at Selland Arena, featuring a lineup that includes Keith Sweat, Guy, Jon B and Silk.
Ticket presales began at 10 a.m. Thursday May 6 through Ticketmaster, using the code “SWEAT.” Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 a.m. Friday, May 27.
Keith Sweat is a singer-songwriter who is credited with the cultivation of the New Jack Swing. The New York native’s debut hit, “I Want Her,” came from his multiplatinum album “Make It Last Forever” that sold more 3 million copies.
Sweat has been performing since 1975 when he was a member of the Harlem band Jamilah. He left the group in 1984 to launch a solo career.
Guy features Aaron and Damion Hall, who also play into the New Jack Swing energy. Their top-selling releases include “Let’s Chill” (1991), “Groove Me” (1988), “Teddy’s Jam” (1988) and “Dancin’ ” (1999).
Jon B’s R&B hits include “They Don’t Know,” “Are U Still Down” (featuring Tupac Shakur) in 1998 and “Someone To Love” (featuring Babyface) in 1995.
Silk, the R&B group formed in Atlanta in 1989, has had such hits as “Freak Me” (1993), “Lose Control” (1993) and “If You (Lovin’ Me)” (1999).
