Online trolls are relentless.
Ask Cracker Barrel, which continues to get hounded on social media months after firing Bradley Reid Byrd’s wife.
Even something as seemingly benign as the announcement of a new Cracker Barrel location, isn’t safe from the trolling. As evidence, there’s this post from The Fresno Bee’s Facebook page announcing the restaurant had signed a lease on a location and would indeed be opening in Fresno (there had been rumors for months). While most of the 177 comments stuck to praising or panning the restaurant’s food and/or location, many showed their concern for Byrd’s wife.
Comment No. 1, for example: “Is Brad's wife going to be working there also?”
Or: “What we need is answers for them firing #BradsWife on his bday.” That one is followed by three laughing-to-tears emoji faces.
There were also a number of memes posted in dedication to “Brad’s Wife.”
The movement started after Byrd, aka Brad, posted on Cracker Barrel’s Facebook page, asking why his wife had been fired. She’d worked at the restaurant for for 11 years. The plea even spawned its own petition on on Change.org, because, that’s how these things work. It currently has 25,750 supporters.
