Country music artist Chris Young still will play at The Big Fresno Fair – just three days after he hid for dear life during the deadly Las Vegas shooting.
Young, 32, tweeted that he spent several hours hiding in his trailer at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, where a gunman opened fire Sunday night and killed at least 59 people and injured hundreds more.
“Spent I don’t know how long on the floor of a trailer behind the stage...know multiple people are dead,” Young tweeted. “Listening to that gunfire...
“I’m literally shaking still.”
Never miss a local story.
Fresno Fair publicist Danielle Griffin confirmed Young will perform Wednesday as scheduled at the Fresno Fairgrounds, with the concert starting at 7 p.m.
The country singer is the first performer among 12 consecutive concerts/acts scheduled at the Fresno Fair’s Paul Paul Theater.
A message left from Young’s publicist Tuesday was not immediately returned.
Young was in attendance Sunday but did not perform at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
He has been touring with headliner country musician Jason Aldean, who was on stage at the festival before abruptly running off when the shooting began.
Police later identified 64-year-old Stephen C. Paddock as the shooter who fired countless rounds from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino toward the crowd of more than 22,000 people.
The incident is the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Aldean went on to announce he’s canceling upcoming shows this weekend “out of respect for the victims, their families, and our fans.”
The country singer was scheduled to perform Friday at Los Angeles, Saturday in San Diego and Sunday in Anaheim.
“I hope everyone understands why we can’t play this weekend,” Aldean tweeted, “and I’m sorry if anyone is disappointed.”
Young scheduled his own concert at the Fresno Fair during an off day of Aldean’s tour.
Young is known for his deep voice and blending traditional and contemporary country styles.
He was the winner of Season Four of USA’s Nashville Star.
His song “The Man I Want To Be” has been viewed more than 44 million times on YouTube.
As of Tuesday night, tickets were still available for Wednesday’s Fresno Fair concert. Ticket prices were $33 or $38.
