November candidates
Friday was the closing date for candidates filing to run on the Nov. 4 ballot. The candidacy deadline is extended to Wednesday in any race where the incumbent did not file by Friday.
The November election, which will include a runoff for Fresno mayor between Henry T. Perea and Ashley Swearengin, and the presidential election, also will determine who will serve on school boards, city councils and various other offices around the Valley.
Some of the races are:
Fresno Unified School District board, Area 2 -- Incumbent Manuel G. Nunez and Esmeralda Diaz, Paul H. Garcia and Larry Moore.
Fresno Unified, Area 5 -- Incumbent Carol Mills and Natalie S. Clark.
Fresno Unified, Area 6 -- Incumbent Janet Ryan and Virginia Hermosillo.
Clovis Unified School District board, Area 2 -- Incumbent Ginny Hovsepian.
Clovis Unified, Area 4 -- Incumbent Brian Heryford.
Clovis Unified, Area 5 -- no candidates filed.
Clovis Unified, Area 7 -- Christopher Casado.
Central Unified School District board, Area 3 -- Incumbent Mike Yada and William Duane Peverill.
Central Unified, Area 5 -- Incumbent Cynthia Berube.
Central Unified, Area 6 -- Bradley S. Black, Oscar L. Robinson and April Henry.
State Center Community College District board, Area 2 -- Incumbent William Smith and Phil Maher.
State Center, Area 5 -- Incumbent Phil Forhan and Richard M. Caglia.
State Center, Area 3 -- Ron Feaver.
State Center, Area 6 -- Patrick Patterson.
Madera Unified School District board, three at-large seats -- Incumbents J. Gary Adams, Ray Seibert and Robert E. Garibay are running against listed challengers Jack W. Porter Jr., Loretta Edwards, Luis Ceja and Rodrigo Mendez.
Madera City Council -- Incumbents Sam Armentrout and Robert L. Poythress are running unopposed.
Tulare City Council, three at-large seats -- Incumbents Phil Vandegrift, Craig Vejvoda and Carlton Jones, and challenger Wayne Ross are running.
