Fresno Unified plans to avoid layoffs next school year and expand transitional kindergarten to all elementary schools over the next two years, district officials said Wednesday.
Southeast Fresno's new elementary school will bear the name Vang Pao Elementary School, honoring the Hmong leader who died more than a year ago.
State Center Community College District trustees on Tuesday dropped a proposal to eliminate summer school in June, opting instead to make budget trims that will preserve summer classes.
