The story said Israeli jets strafed a Navy ship with 20-caliber rounds; the rounds were 20-millimeter. Donald Pageler of Westminster, a crew member, was misidentified as David Pegeler. The story said helicopters from an aircraft carrier sent to aid the ship were turned back; it was fighter jets that were turned back. The story said 26 were killed in a torpedo attack; 25 were killed. The story identified Terry Halbardier as the recipient of a Silver Star medal. A photo caption on the same page identified him as James. His name is James Terrell Halbardier, and he goes by Terry. The headline said 26 were killed on the USS Liberty; a single torpedo killed 25 men, but 34 died in the attack.
