Starting today (March 14), the broadcast power of Visalia's KJUG (FM 106.7) increases tenfold, producing a signal that will cover Fresno, Hanford, Lemoore and Wasco. A new 75-foot-tall tower in Yokohl Valley will broadcast at 27,100 watts, enough to more than double the current broadcast range of the country music radio station. The construction, which started in November, cost approximately $500,000.
Momentum Broadcasting, a group of local investors that includes Donald Groppetti, president of the Visalia-based Groppetti Auto Group, purchased KJUG (AM 1270 and FM 106.7) and KCRZ (FM 104.9) from Westcoast Broadcasting Inc. for $1.8 million in 2011. The signal increase doesn't affect the other two radio stations. Read more →March 06

Longtime KFTV (Channel 21.1) reporter Reina Cardenas recently moved into the anchor chair for the local Spanish-language television station's 6 and 11 p.m. news. She says she thinks about her father, Agustin, whenever she does a news story.
"I remember when I was a kid, he always wanted to watch the news and we wanted to watch cartoons on the only TV in the house. We would compromise and he would watch the national and local news and then we would get the TV," Cardenas says. "I would sit with him while he watched the news. I think that's where I got the idea about a career in news." Read more →February 06

Coming up with the first question to ask Johnny Knoxville is always easy.
After watching him be beaten, electrocuted, gored, smashed and have his manhood hit with almost anything heavy imaginable, the big concern is how Knoxville is feeling. He's not as big a "Jackass" these days, but one has to wonder how much of the aftermath of all the physical abuse he took over the years in the name of the TV show and movies remains.
