Each week, In a Fix takes a look at annoying and sometimes dangerous problems in the central San Joaquin Valley and reports on who is responsible for getting the problems fixed.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED

Raised sidewalk on the northwest corner of Marks and Browning avenues

Jackie Small e-mailed The Bee regarding this problem in her Fresno neighborhood.

"The sidewalk is in horrible shape, and I have no idea who to contact about it," she says. "My mother has tripped on it a couple of times."

The sidewalk is lifted about 3 inches.

"The kids love it because they hop their bikes on it," Small says.

When The Bee reported the problem to Fresno's Public Works Department, a crew evaluated the problem and scheduled the area for repair.

Who's responsible: Patrick Wiemiller, Public Works director, (559) 621-8650.
