Each week, In a Fix takes a look at annoying and sometimes dangerous problems in the central San Joaquin Valley and reports on who is responsible for getting the problems fixed.
What has been fixed
Raised sidewalks on North Fresno Street and East Barstow Avenue.
Harold Vander Dussen sent a letter to The Bee reporting that two sections of raised sidewalks have been fixed.
"I can now safely take my morning walk without tripping," Vander Dussen says.
In June, Vander Dussen reported to The Bee elevated sidewalks by Hope Lutheran Church on Fresno Street just north of Barstow Avenue and on Barstow just west of Fresno Street. The Bee published an article Sept. 12.
Fresno's Public Works Department replaced both sections of sidewalk in late September.
Public Works Manager Brian Russell says the project included replacing damaged sidewalks, curbs, gutters and a driveway approach.
