About us

The Fresno Bee serves a six-county area in the California San Joaquin Valley. It is owned by The McClatchy Company.

The Fresno Bee was founded in 1922 by Charles Kenny (C.K.) and Valentine Stuart (V.S.), sons of The Sacramento Bee's second editor James McClatchy. The two newspapers formed what became The McClatchy Company. In 1926, The Bee purchased the 50-year-old Fresno newspaper The Republican, and in 1932, merged the two. Its website was launched 1996 and in November 2005, The Bee integrated its online operations into the paper's other departments.

Our mission is to inform and advocate for the enhancement of life in the Valley.
