Rookie Ty Lawson led the Nuggets with 29 points to go with six assists, as Denver cruised to a 119-105 win over Los Angeles at San Diego Sports Arena in the preseason finale for both teams.
J.R. Smith notched 18 points and seven assists, Chris Andersen added 15 points and nine rebounds, and Arron Afflalo and Kenyon Martin each chipped in 12 points for the Nuggets, who were resting Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups.
Pau Gasol (hamstring) and Andrew Bynum (shoulder) also got the night off for LA, while Kobe Bryant notched six points in roughly 10 minutes for the defending champions. Sasha Vujacic ended with a team-high 18 points, while D.J. Mbenga added 14 points in the loss.
The Lakers begin their defense of the NBA title with a home game against the Clippers on Tuesday, while Denver hosts Utah in its season opener Wednesday.
