Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla has been treated after accidentally shooting himself in his right leg.

Adam Katz, Padilla's agent, said the incident happened in the pitcher's native Nicaragua. He added Padilla was treated at a hospital and released Tuesday.

Padilla, 32, began this past season with Texas but was designated for assignment in August and became a free agent before signing a minor league deal with the Dodgers.

Padilla made eight appearances (seven starts) at the end of the regular season for LA, going 4-0 with a 3.20 earned run average.

The right-hander then made three starts in the postseason, first throwing seven shutout innings in the Dodgers' series-clinching Game 3 win over the Cardinals in the NLDS. Padilla limited the Phillies to one run over 7 1/3 frames in Game 2 of the NLCS before being touched for six runs in three innings in the decisive Game 5 loss.
