The San Jose Earthquakes signed captain Ramiro Corrales to a new multi-year contract Monday.
Corrales played on the first San Jose franchise, helping the team win two MLS Cups (2001 and 2003), and returned in 2008 after the club rejoined the league. He has 11 goals and 19 assists in his career, playing defensive midfield or at fullback.
"Ramiro has been an important part of our team the past two seasons and throughout his career," San Jose General Manager of Soccer Operations John Doyle said. "He is an extremely versatile player who has filled a number of roles here through the years.
"He also is a true professional and proven winner who works hard every day in both training and the games."
Corrales ranks in the top three all-time in appearances (167, first), starts (151, third) and minutes played (13,322, third) for San Jose.
Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
