AC Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa has given a clear indication that a deal to bring the England international David Beckham back to the San Siro has almost been sealed.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder is expected to join the club in January for a second spell once the MLS season draws to a close.

Speaking to Calciomercato.it, Cantamessa said: "We are close but, until things are signed you never know. There are things that are down to the managers and us lawyers should always stand back.

"However, on the horizon things seem positive."

The 34-year-old hopes to cement a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad for next summer's tournament in South Africa.
