The Philadelphia Phillies declined the 2010 team option on third baseman Pedro Feliz, making him a free agent.
Feliz spent the last two seasons with Philadelphia after starting his 10- season career with eight years in San Francisco. In 2009, the 34-year-old hit .266 with 12 homers and 82 RBI in 158 games played.
"This doesn't preclude us from bringing Pedro back next season," said Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. "While this allows us to explore other opportunities, we will continue to keep the lines of communication with Pedro and his representative."
For his career, spanning 1165 games with the Giants and Phillies, Feliz is a .254 batter with 135 homers and 558 RBI.
