Sanger Unified principal wins national honor

Wesley Sever, principal of John S. Wash Elementary School in Fresno, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive the 2009 Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership.

Sever is one of eight principals chosen for the national award given annually in recognition of success in transforming schools and establishing high standards and expectations for teachers, students and themselves.

Sever will be recognized Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

His school is part of Sanger Unified School District.
