A grand opening ceremony is scheduled today for the Paramount Bard Academy in Delano.
The academy -- a public charter school -- opened in August with about 100 sixth- and ninth-grade students. It is a joint project involving the Delano community, Paramount Agricultural Companies and Bard College.
The academy, which includes participation by the Bard College master of arts in teaching program, is designed to graduate students who are prepared to advance to college and complete degrees.
A representative of the U.S. Department of Education is expected to attend the grand opening.
