Hurdler, Clovis East

Grade: Senior

He’s qualified because: Scored a section hurdles sweep, and he was hardly pushed, winning the 100 in 14.55 and the 300 in 38.63 while powering the Timberwolves to their first section team title in the sport. His 14.55 100 and 38.10 300 are school records. And the 300 mark ranks eighth all time in the section.

The word: “He placed fourth in both races last year in the Valley and didn’t qualify for the state. I think he was a little embarrassed and it kind of lit a fire under him. This was a guy who once cried because he didn’t want to be a hurdler. Then, before you knew it, he was a Valley champion.” — Clovis East coach Jim Farmer
