Age: 40-something
Occupation: Full-time, stay-at-home mom. Long hours, little pay, yet worth millions.
Hobbies: I enjoy taking out my lawn chair, People magazine and sitting in the front yard watching my kids play (yes, outside) with neighborhood friends.
How many letters: Four in 2008.
Favorite topics: I'm a true blue (and green) high school sports fanatic! There's no greater joy than to sit in the stands on Friday nights watching my football team. Go Clovis East T-Wolves!
Why do you write? I read articles in The Bee that irritate me. I write to vent.
Excerpt from recent letter: "Recently I noticed that in Baghdad the temperatures will range from 114 to 118 degrees for a week. We are fortunate, we can dress to keep cool; our homes are air-conditioned, as well as our cars and workplaces; many of us have swimming pools in our backyards. For the most part we can keep ourselves comfortable. Can we even imagine how our soldiers feel in Iraq?"
Reaction to letters: Thumbs up from friends and neighbors.
Topic that doesn't get enough attention: Our identity is not defined by the brand of clothes we wear, the car we drive, the people we know. The rich person is one who understands how the little things we do for others can make a difference in their lives, and in return makes us a better person.
Education: Hoover High, then off to Ricks College in Idaho. My greatest education has been experiences life has offered me.
Family: My wonderful husband, Darrell; son, Spencer, 14; daughter, Peaches (Annie), 12.
Political philosophy: I'm a somewhat confused conservative. There is way too much bitter arguing between political parties.
