Age: 48

Occupation: Accountant/tax preparer.

Hobbies: Golf, reading, cooking.

Bee reader since: 1977.

How many letters: Nine since 2006.

Favorite topics: Politics and the media. I like to point out the hypocrisy that goes on during the electoral process.

Why do you write? Mainly to vent. When I read or see something that catches my attention or makes me angry, I write to express my opinion. Plus, it's better than yelling at the TV.

Topics that don't get enough attention: The role racism and sexism play in America. Here we are decades after the civil rights movement and we are just now at a point where a black man and a woman had a real chance to be elected president. We should have reached this point sooner.

Reaction to letters: All positive. Friends and family know I am just expressing my opinion, even if they don't agree. Some are very surprised at my views.

Excerpt from recent letter: "I am tired of the Republicans using the term 'flip-flop' when a candidate changes his stance on a subject. When did this become a bad thing? I think a person who had an opinion on something, and after carefully studying it changes his mind, is an example of a wise person."

Education: Associate degree in accounting.

Family: Married to Irene; daughters, Melissa and Elizabeth; four grandchildren.

Political philosophy: I am a liberal Democrat. I believe that we should use our resources to make America better and not waste them in other countries.
