Age: 60

Home: Oakhurst

Occupation: Retired electrical engineer, software designer and software development business owner.

Hobbies: Tennis, pocket billiards, hiking, cross-country skiing, reading, politics.

Bee reader since: 1991.

How many letters: 45 since 2001.

Favorite topics: Single-payer universal health care, green energy and energy conservation, electric cars, truth in media, corporate control of government, public campaign financing, instant-runoff voting, social and environmental justice.

Why do you write? Much of talk radio and cable entertainment news lack depth, proper context, and is rife with omissions. This often leads to fostering misinformation. I write in hopes of remedying the deliberate manipulation of public opinion.

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Northeastern University, Boston, Mass.

Family: Mom (still working at 83), four brothers, two nephews, one niece, one grandnephew and grandniece and POSSLQ long-term partner.

Political philosophy: If you can't or won't do something that benefits society, at least, try to do no harm.
