Why do you write? To work my mind (use it or lose it), and I like to see my name in print -- the ego thing. It's fun.
Reaction to letters: My friends like them. They sometimes take issue and sometimes other writers disagree with them.
Excerpt from recent letter: "Oil is used to produce plastics, medicine and many other useful products. Even if it is cheaper to import oil, we need to produce it here in case we are attacked. We should not enrich our enemies and other countries. We should make a valid effort to get a power source that will not pollute our atmosphere. Putting our heads in the sand and thinking that not acquiring needed resources is somehow going to cause less pollution is nuts."
Topics that don't get enough attention: Evolution, overpopulation, publicly financed campaigns, universal health care without insurance companies.
Education: Bachelor's degree in education, science minor.
Family: Wife, Bonnie; two children; four grandchildren; three brothers; one sister.
Political philosophy: I'm a liberal Democrat who agrees with the Republicans sometimes. I don't always agree with the Democrats' stand. If you always agree with one of these parties, you are not thinking for yourself.
