Concerning the recent uproar about the officer involved shootings: When people attempt to put themselves in the officer’s shoes, they imagine themselves as “super cops” who can handle situations with absurd solutions, i.e. “shooting limbs” or “neutralizing a suspect armed with a gun by applying a Taser.”
They don’t realize that the application of force in that way, in the real world, may put others at risk or could lead to the signature of their own death certificate.
Of course, there is the simple possibility that they have failed to put themselves in the shoes of the officer.
