I am shocked to hear the airlines want one of the crew to take a “nap” during the flight.
But a news commentator said he takes a nap and wakes up refreshed. But the news commentator is not responsible for the lives of 120 passengers.
I challenge the Air Line Pilots Association and the FAA to conduct tests for a crew reaction to an emergency situation with one crew member asleep. This test would be conducted in a flight simulator by doctors who study sleep deprivation.
They would publish their findings and then the FAA would decide if a crew member who is taking a “nap” can respond correctly to an emergency.
I’m disgusted with the airlines that only think of their profits — not public safety.
