Don’t be fooled by President Obama’s rhetoric promising to lower the cost of health insurance and coverage for everyone. The reason is very simple: Obama wants socialized medicine. Everything else is empty rhetoric.

Once this public option is on the books, many will sign up for the lower premiums and drop the coverage they have, thinking they have gotten a better deal. Here’s the trap: Soon, along the road, the socialized health insurance system will be overwhelmed by claims and will be forced to raise premiums, because the premiums were calculated too low to begin with in order to make the system palatable to the public.

Here is what happened in Germany: They fell for it and today have socialized health insurance. And, in order to deal with the ever-increasing need to raise premiums, they developed a scheme and put a special tax on gasoline.

In May, when I visited Germany, gasoline sold for a little over $6 per gallon. Is this what we want?
