While the unemployment rate teeters around 10% and our troops are being killed and wounded in Afghanistan, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, has sent a letter to President Obama calling an antitrust probe against the BCS because a college football team in his state was bypassed by the BCS last season.

President Obama stated after his election that he was, “going to throw my weight around a bit” to bring about a college football playoff. To make things worse, the Justice Department is going to review Sen. Hatch’s letter to determine if there is merit in the senator’s request.

I enjoy college football, but it is just a game, and with so many pressing problems facing our nation it is ludicrous to get involved in such frivolous pursuits.

As the old saying goes, “the inmates are running the insane asylum.”
