In response to “No rules in the arena?” [Victor Davis Hanson Sept. 20], it is almost embarrassing to watch our politicians in action, especially the ones who resort to childish name-calling, taunting and inappropriate outbursts when discussing the well-being of our country.
I always thought of politicians as the more dignified and reasonable individual who were more concerned about the welfare of his/her neighbor and community then their own. It sometimes seems like politicians are more concerned about their party’s position on an issue rather than their own.
Nowadays I tune into news channels and see children bickering about their opponent comparing them to Hitler and the Nazis (really, Hitler — yeah because health care reform is pretty close to almost wiping out an entire race). I might as well tune into an episode of Jerry Springer, at least there I might see an actual fist fight.
I don’t understand why everything has to be so far to the left or to the right. It’s hard for me to believe that a middle ground is nonexistent. I truly believe that this gang affiliation and their loyalty to their “set” is what is dividing our country. I, for one, hope I never get jumped in.
