In response to Maxie Wilfong’s letter Oct. 15: Gap Ministries (Ezekiel 22:30) makes it our mission to reach out to the elderly residents who are lonely and often neglected in nursing homes throughout Fresno.

During the Children’s Hours, our volunteer moms bring their kids and we sing, make a craft and enjoy a time of fellowship together.

We also have a program called Friendly Visitors that helps to connect volunteers with a nursing home in their area and a resident for them to visit. We see the same need Ms. Wilfong sees and we purposefully and prayerfully find a way to fill it. There is hope.

A few rules are needed to help foster a feeling of community.
