I would like to thank everyone who attended or participated in our three California Law Enforcement’s Wish Upon A Star fund-raisers last month. September is our biggest fundraising month of the year and people from all over the state helped. While it was apparent that the economy left some unable to support our nonprofit organization financially, we received support in so many other ways. Thank you to everyone who attended Shave the Brave, Ruiz For Kids, and the Oldies Dinner-Dance.

A special thank you goes to Lt. Michele Figueroa, of the Visalia Police Department. As a Shave the Brave participant, she raised $3,200 and for the second year was named Top Cop for raising the most money. North Kern State Prison was named 2009 Top Agency for raising $7,300 as a department.

All the money we raised last month will allow us to continue to grant wishes for children who have high-risk and life-threatening illnesses. We know these wishes mean the world to them, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Carmen Perez
