Those who do not study history are destined to repeat it. But how do we get people to take the time to look into the past?

I have belonged to the San Joaquin Valley Civil War Roundtable where we meet monthly to scholarly discuss all aspects of the Brother’s War. In four years, we have added about 20 members. But by playing a tin soldier as a Civil War re-enactor, or living historian as we call ourselves, we can reach hundreds in one weekend.

Make history interesting and people will come. Glorifying war, or playing racists, as we have inaccurately been accused of doing, is far from the thoughts of my friends and colleagues.
