Grizzlies game to benefit ministries

Celebrate Marriage Night will be held at Chukchansi Park at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 1, when the Fresno Grizzlies play the Memphis Redbirds.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Marriage Mentoring Ministries and the Fresno/Madera Healthy Marriage Coalition.

Jesus' return is topic

David Reagan of Lamb & Lion Ministries near Princeton, Texas, will be the guest speaker at 6 p.m. next Saturday and 9 and 10:30 a.m. July 27 at Northside Christian Church, 2709 E. Nees Ave., Clovis.

Church will host Beth Moore simulcast

A presentation by Christian author and Bible teacher Beth Moore will be offered via live simulcast Aug. 1 and 2 at Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar Ave.

Moore's presentation will originate at the Living Proof Live 2008 event in Louisville, Ky.

Peoples Church is among 600 churches nationwide that will present the simulcast.

Islamic center names award recipients

Kursheed Ali and Sudarshan Kapoor are recipients of the Spirit of Abraham Award 2008, which is presented by the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno. They will receive the awards at a special Ramadan event at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at 2111 E. Nees Ave.

Ali, a retired math professor at Fresno State, is being recognized for promoting the understanding of Islam. Kapoor, a professor emeritus at Fresno State, is being honored for promoting harmony among all religions. Cost of the Ramadan event is $25. Details: (559) 297-9535.

Spirit West Coast opens July 31 in Monterey

The Newsboys, Third Day and tobyMac are the headliners for Spirit West Coast 2008, to be held July 31-Aug. 2 in Monterey.

The Christian music festival also will feature Kutless, Leeland, BarlowGirl and Hawk Nelson.

One-day tickets cost $52 through Friday or $59 at the gate. For ages 6-12, the cost is $34 through Friday or $39 at the gate. Full-event tickets cost $115 through Friday or $125 at the gate, and $57 for ages 6-12 through Friday or $70 at the gate. Admission for ages 5 and younger is free.
