Kids prepare their cars at the starting line for a heat during a solar car race Monday at Alta Sierra Intermediate School in Clovis.
Teams of three designed and built a model car powered by sunlight using a solar photovoltaic cell.Awards were given to the fastest five cars and to the five best designed cars.This was part of the science curriculum and was sponsored by Cleantech America, a private business that develops solar plants.More than 650 students will have participated in the event at the school.
