Man held in Fresno Co. ag thefts
Fresno County sheriff’s deputies recovered three stolen tractors and a trailer and arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the thefts, the Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.
Deputies received the report of the theft of two tractors and a trailer from a farm storage yard in the area of Clovis and Nebraska avenues about a week ago. The equipment was estimated to be worth several thousand dollars.
While investigating the thefts, detectives said they learned the man had contacted the victim of the thefts and offered to return the equipment if he would drop criminal charges against him.

Police: Drunk man admits theft after traffic stop
Officials said a man gave deputies more than they asked for when he was pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving. Sheriff Greg Bartlett told WAFF Tuesday that 48-year-old man pulled out in front of a deputy in the early morning hours of Halloween and the official observed the truck weaving in and out of lanes heading to I-65.
Bartlett said the deputy pulled the truck over and during the stop the man stumbled out of the driver's seat and yelled, "I just stole this truck!"
The man was arrested for theft of the motor vehicle and several traffic violations, including DUI.

$50,000 allegedly stolen on fuel cards
Fresno County deputies say a 20-year-old man used fuel cards from a business where he worked to steal more than $50,000.
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Curtice said supervisors at Heppner Iron & Metal, a recycling company in south Fresno, noticed discrepancies in the billing for the cards.
Detectives learned the man, a former employee, bought fuel and sold it to truck drivers and farmers in the Fresno and Madera areas.

Man in custody in theft of two cars
A 27-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the theft of two cars Tuesday morning, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office reported.
Sheriff's spokesman Chris Curtice said deputies tried to stop a stolen Honda Accord just before 3 a.m. but the driver failed to stop before crashing near Barton and Brentwood avenues. The driver eluded deputies on foot but was seen later driving a Nissan near Archie and Weldon avenues and was pursued again.
The man crashed into a parked car near Yale and Meridian avenues but continued driving before running from the Nissan at Diana and Belmont avenues. The man fought with deputies trying to arrest him and was subdued by a Fresno police officer using an electronic stun device.

Alleged power theft zaps Madera Co. woman
A Madera County woman was booked into the county jail Wednesday by sheriff's deputies who were investigating an apparent theft of electricity.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart said deputies made the arrest while checking a complaint by a man who said his apartment on Georgia Avenue was without power. The man said he saw his electricity meter was running but his neighbor's meter was not.
When he shut off his circuit breakers, he saw the lights go out in his neighbor's unit and heard someone curse, Stuart said. A deputy later discovered that the neighbor, 32, was wanted on a felony warrant, Stuart said. Her bail is set at $10,000.
A 33-year-old Reedley man was booked on auto theft and drug counts Thursday, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department said.
The arrest took place after deputies went to a residence near Road 120 and Avenue 432, northwest of Orosi, where a car had been stolen. The victim gave deputies the address of a man that he said was responsible for the theft.
Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers went to the suspect's home, where they found six stolen vehicles and a number of marijuana plants, a sheriff's spokesman said.
